Ribbing wire is ideal for adding extra strength to any pattern that has a palmered hackle. Wooly Buggers, Egg Sucking Leeches, etc will last much longer if they are wrapped with ribbing wire.

Description
Tying Tip for an Indestructable Wooly Bugger: Tie in a marabou tail. At the Tail tie in spot also tie in a piece of ribbing wire. Move the thread to just behind the eye of the hook and tie in the chenille and hackle. That is Correct. You are tying in the chenille and hackle at the front (eye) of the hook. Leave the thread at the eye of the hook. Wrap the chenille back to the tail of fly and tie off the chenille with 4-5 wraps of the ribbing wire. Attach a hackle plier to the wire. Do the same with the hackle and tie off with the wire.. Now wrap the wire through the hackle and forward to the eye of the hook. Tie off the wire with the thread. Whip finish. Bombproof fly!
