7/25/2024 Fishing Report
The weather has been much nicer and more conducive to fishing this last week. The pinks still have not really shown up in good numbers, but the Dolly fishing has been good enough to make up for it. Montana, Cowee and Sheep Creeks have all been fishing very well when using beads. According to some of the boat-based anglers in town the cohos are starting to show up in serious numbers. Try big bright baitfish patterns when you are targeting them this early in the salt.
We are still waiting on the first coho of the year photo to be submitted so we are leaving the rules up this week. The fish must come off the road system, no boats, not even to fish the road system! You have to be fishing on foot. First picture submitted to us with a FLY in its mouth will win. This year the first coho on a fly will get one of our new super deluxe hooded sweatshirts.
Remember, let's try and harvest the hatchery fish and release the wild ones to go spawn. We will announce the details for our second contest next Thursday.
As always, we love featuring your photos for our fishing reports. If you have a great fish, scenery, or action photo that has to do with fishing around town send it our way! You can email photos or videos to cory@alaskaflyfishinggoods.com. Please remember to handle fish with care, especially if you are practicing catch and release. Consider getting a net with a rubber basket to help land fish quickly, pinch your barbs and keep them in the water until you are ready to snap a quick photo.
See you on the water!
