From Us:
The first thing that caught our eye was the unique machining of the Behemoth. In fact, the Behemoth is a die cast reel partly because you cannot machine a reel of this style. The interlocking fingers of the spool are revolutionary and striking to behold.

Next we were impressed by the strength of the carbon fiber drag on this reel. It has the surface area (stopping power) of reels only found in the upper echelon of reels. The drag knob is also easy to deal with even with semi-frozen hands.

Finally, we put it in the field for a season of Alaskan smack down. Big fish, gnarly glacial silt, saltwater, bouncing around in the pick up on the way to the river. It held up beautifully and looked sharp at the end. A great value to be sure.

Backing Capacities and reel weight:
Behemoth 5/6  (5.7 oz) – 125 yards of 20lb Dacron
Behemoth 7/8  (7.5 oz) – 200 yards of 20lb Dacron
Behemoth 9/10 (10.8 oz) – 200 yards of 30lb Dacron

From Redington:
Our new BEHEMOTH reel combines the most powerful drag in its class with stunning aesthetics that push the limits of fly reel design. The unique, un-machinable, die-cast construction is coupled with a durable, interlocking, large-arbor spool design that both looks and functions like a premium reel. A super-heavy duty carbon fiber drag package brings the utmost in drag strength, reliability and performance to the family. Sized for your favorite 5-weight trout rod, and all the way up to saltwater ready, big-game sizes, the BEHEMOTH reels offer performance and affordability to beginner and veteran anglers alike.
