The Chartreuse/Blue Flashtail Tube is a tidewater-lower river king slayer. Big Chinook just out of the salt love this color combo and the size of the fly is spot on. This fly has accounted for a lot of kings! Hartwick's Flashtail Tubes from Aqua Flies are just over 3 inches in length. They are tied with marabou, ostrich and flash. The marabou is tied in with a cone behind it so that it keeps a full profile in the water and is much more durable than a standard marabou tube fly. They are super wiggly in the water and still have a nice full profile.

The Purple Fish Taco is one of our favorites for steelhead and kings. It is tied with a bit of pink on the rear of the shank that imparts a nice subtle pop of color. Due to its light weight and slender profile this is a great fly in small or medium sized rivers. The ostrich and flash come alive in the water and it doesn't hang up at the end of the swing. If you are fishing the Sandy River or other Alaska Peninsula king rivers, the Fish Taco should be in your box.
