Big fish eat little fish and they don't care if they are the same species. The Rainbow version will entice big trout, from lakers to browns to monster rainbows, into wanting a tasty treat. The Fish Skull Stinger Zonker take the old classic zonker to another world. By adding the keel weighted Fish Skull and stinger hook, this pattern goes from dancing the Waltz to spinning the Tango. With the added movement and longer body, this pattern drives trout crazy.

Fish Skull Zonkers are a beautifully tied update of the classic baitfish pattern. The Ice Queen version has a nice flashy belly and a white wing/tail that make it stand out in murky water. What really makes this fly pop though is the red throat. Whether the fish thinks the red is a flash of the gills or bleeding bait, who knows? What we do know is that trout devour this color combination, especially when fished in stillwater, slow moving streams or in the estuaries. The keel weighted Fish Skull Head gives this fly a lot of motion when stripped.

The Olive Fish Skull Zonker is a great sculpin and small fish imitiation that can entice a hungry trout anytime. The keel weighted Fish Skull Head gives this fly a lot of motion when stripped. Try fishing this in spring and early summer and then again in the late fall. Swung or stripped, it will definitely turn a fish or two.

The Purple Fish Taco is one of our favorites for steelhead and kings. It is tied with a bit of pink on the rear of the shank that imparts a nice subtle pop of color.

Due to its light weight and slender profile this is a great fly in small or medium sized rivers. The ostrich and flash come alive in the water and it doesn't hang up at the end of the swing. If you are fishing the Sandy River or other Alaska Peninsula king rivers, the Fish Taco should be in your box.

The Flesh & Bead Selection is a double duty selection of prime flesh or "carcass" flies and over 100 8mm and 10mm mottled beads to mimic a wide range of salmon eggs. This selection is designed for summer and fall on rivers in the Illiamna/Bristol Bay area and Western AK. It will also work wonders on fish in Southcentral and Matsu streams and rivers.

If you are fishing in Bristol Bay or the Matsu in June or July, this fly is money. We have had folks come back from week long float trips where this was the #1 rainbow trout catching fly. Make sure to have a few in your box. Not only do they fish incredibly well, but they are easy to cast and can be thrown on a trout Spey rod quite nicely.

Dirty Sock looks just like its name. Washed out tan and gray, it is a classic weighted flesh pattern that fishes extremely well when the flesh in the water has been there awhile and has lost its bright pink coloration.

Trout and Dolly Varden can be very particular about flesh color. The weighted Ginger Flesh Fly is usually the first color to come out of the fly box. It is a nice mid spawn color that has a touch of both fresh flesh and old flesh.

The Floating Flesh Peach is like a Gurgler on steroids! Find a run full of spawning salmon and fish this floating weapon over them. The trout and char can't resist coming up to a combination of flesh, egg, and rubber legs all waking right over their head.

Don't over look these sweet little tandem flesh flies. They are unweighted, so they tumble and undulate just like flesh rolling along with the current and big trout vacuum them up! Originally designed for the Kenai, they have cleaned house all over Alaska from Bristol Bay to the Matsu.

Peachy King, along with Champagne, are the core two colors that need to be in your box. Peachy King is the ideal combination of a somewhat fresh egg that has been in the water a short while. Not as bright as a super fresh egg like Flame, but bright enough to grab the attention of trout and Dollies.

Flame is the brightest, freshest egg in the Glo Bug line up. It imitates an egg that has just dropped out of a salmon. Flame is especially effective in the smaller sizes where sockeye salmon are spawning.

We don't fish a lot of 5X tippet in Alaska, but if you tie one of these in a #18 on, you'll need it! This is a go-to for picky grayling and early season rainbows. If you have a hard time seeing it, try trailing it off of a larger dry fly.

The Gumdropper is a versatile little fly that can be fished in a variety of ways for trout and grayling. We love stripping it slowly in lakes for cutthroat. It also can be fished under an indicator (or big dry fly) as a fat emerger. It is also a perfect little swinging fly on your trout Spey rod! The matte black tungsten bead really gets it down in the strike zone, too.

Late August through September can have some great hatches of large mayflies known as Gray Drakes.  When these big guys are coming off, trout and grayling go to town.  The Hairwing Gray Drake is an awesome imitation that works well when large Parachute Adams are not.  This is also a great attractor pattern for doing dry/dropper rigs.

When the trout or grayling get fussy and refuse the usual dries you willl be glad you have a few of these in your box. This a great fly to drop off the back of a big Royal Wulff. Lightly dressed and subtle are the sparkle dun's calling card. Try it on a "Double Dry Dropper." Fished off the back of a big attractor pattern this fly is awesome.
